About Iberia

Iberia is the national flag carrier of Spain and part of the IAG Group along with British Airways. Their main operating hub is Madrid Barajas International Airport and operates using IATA code IB. Iberia has a very strong network of long-haul services to Latin America, which you can connect to throughout Spain on their regional subsidiary Iberia Regional through Madrid's terminal 1. Iberia is part of the oneworld airline alliance.
About Iberia Iberia is Spain's largest airline, founded on 28 June 1927, making it one of the oldest airlines in the world. Headquartered in Madrid, Spain, Iberia operates from its main hub at Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD). The airline is a subsidiary of the International Airlines Group (IAG), formed in 2011 through the merger of Iberia and British Airways. IAG is a publicly listed holding company that also includes Vueling, Aer Lingus, and LEVEL.
With a fleet of 165 aircraft and over 10,800 employees, Iberia serves more than 143 cities across Europe, the Americas, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. The airline is particularly renowned as the market leader on routes between Europe and Latin America. In addition to its own network, passengers benefit from over 380 onward connections through Iberia's partner airlines. Iberia is a proud member of the oneworld global airline alliance.
Awards Iberia has been recognised with some of the most prestigious awards in the aviation industry. In 2024, the airline won the top award for Best Airline Staff in Europe at the World Airline Awards. In 2025, the airline received the APEX Five Stars Global Airline award from the Airline Passenger Experience Association, one of the most respected bodies in global aviation. At the 2025 Onboard Hospitality Awards, Iberia won the Gold Award for Best Cabin Interior Concept for its revolutionary A321XLR aircraft — the first airline in the world to operate this next-generation narrow-body on long-haul transatlantic routes. It also won the Best Short-Haul Economy Meal award for its cuttlefish and shrimp rice dish. For the second consecutive year, Iberia was also recognised as the winner of Best Onboard Service in Europe at the PAX International Awards, voted by over 15,500 aviation industry professionals worldwide.
Iberia International Flights Iberia flies to more than 143 destinations worldwide from its Madrid hub, with a particularly strong network across Europe, Latin America, the United States, and Africa. Travellers from the UAE can connect to Iberia's full global network via major European hubs or through oneworld partner airlines including British Airways, American Airlines, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, and others.
Class of Travel Customers can choose from three cabin classes when travelling with Iberia:
Economy Class: Iberia's economy cabin on long-haul aircraft offers a seat pitch of 30–32 inches and seats approximately 18 inches wide. Each seat is equipped with a personal touchscreen entertainment system with access to movies, TV shows, and music, along with USB ports and universal power outlets at every row. All long-haul economy passengers receive a complimentary meal prepared with seasonal ingredients inspired by Spanish cuisine.
Premium Economy Class: Iberia's Premium Economy cabin offers a noticeably more spacious experience, with a seat pitch of 37 inches and a seat width of nearly 19 inches. The upgraded 12 or 13-inch entertainment screen comes paired with a complimentary noise-cancelling headset. Seats feature an adjustable footrest and adjustable headrest, giving passengers additional comfort on longer routes.
Business Class: In Business Class on long-haul flights, Iberia's seats convert into fully flat beds, allowing passengers to arrive rested at their destination. On Iberia's Airbus A350-900 fleet, Business Class features private suites with sliding doors (Recaro CL6720), offering the privacy of a personal space at altitude. The 18.5-inch full HD touchscreen in-flight entertainment system is responsive and loaded with the latest movie releases. Passengers are treated to a gourmet menu curated from premium Spanish produce, accompanied by a carefully selected wine list. Wi-Fi connectivity is available onboard, and each Business Class passenger receives a comprehensive amenity kit with skincare, comfort, and travel essentials. Iberia does not currently operate a First Class cabin — Business Class represents the airline's highest tier of travel.

Check-In You can check in online via the Iberia website or the Iberia mobile app. Online check-in opens 24 hours before your scheduled departure and closes 1 hour before departure (90 minutes for select routes such as Lagos and San José; 3 hours before departure for Caracas). During online check-in you can select your preferred seat. Passengers travelling with pets, unaccompanied minors, or those who require special assistance can complete online check-in but must collect their boarding card at the airport counter. Iberia recommends arriving at the airport at least 2.5 hours before your flight's scheduled departure.
Refund & Cancellation Iberia's refund and cancellation policy depends on the type of fare purchased. Passengers may cancel their booking within 24 hours of purchase at no charge, regardless of fare type. Beyond the 24-hour window, refundability is governed by the fare conditions at the time of booking — some fare categories (such as fully flexible tickets) allow full or partial refunds, while non-refundable fares may not qualify for a cash refund.
To cancel your ticket:
Go to "Manage your booking" on iberia.com Enter your surname and booking reference Retrieve your booking Select the flight and complete the cancellation
To request a refund:
Navigate to the refund request section on iberia.com Review the terms and conditions applicable to your fare Enter your booking and personal details Select your refund request type and payment method Submit your request
If you booked through a travel agent, contact your agent directly to process the cancellation or refund. Iberia may also offer the option to retain your ticket as a travel credit, which can typically be used on future Iberia flights within a specified validity period.
Baggage Allowance Iberia's baggage allowance is determined by your travel class and fare type.
Hand Luggage: All passengers may carry one piece of hand luggage up to 10 kg and one small personal item (such as a handbag or laptop bag) in the cabin, free of charge.
Checked Baggage: Your checked baggage allowance depends on your fare type and cabin class. Economy fares may or may not include a free checked bag depending on the fare purchased. Premium Economy and Business Class passengers receive a more generous checked baggage allowance. Each individual checked bag may weigh a maximum of 32 kg; bags exceeding 23 kg may attract an excess weight surcharge. A maximum of 9 pieces of checked baggage are permitted per passenger in total. It is recommended to check the specific allowance on your booking confirmation, as allowances vary by route and fare.
Frequent Flyer Programme Iberia's loyalty programme is called Iberia Club (formerly Iberia Plus, rebranded in April 2025). The programme has two types of points: Avios and Elite Points.
Avios are the programme's redeemable currency — earn them when you fly with Iberia or any of the 90+ non-airline partners, and redeem them for flights, seat upgrades, hotel stays, car hire, and more. Elite Points are used to move up through the programme's status tiers and unlock premium travel benefits.
Iberia Club has multiple membership tiers:
Clásica — entry level; earn 5 Avios per €1 spent with Iberia Group; access to Avios-only seats and upgrades Plata — attained with 3,500 Elite Points or 20 Iberia segments; earn 6 Avios per €1; Business Class check-in, Group 2 priority boarding, oneworld Ruby status Oro — earn more Avios per euro and enjoy lounge access and additional priority benefits Platino / Platino Prime — top tiers with the most exclusive benefits, higher Avios earning rates (up to 9 Avios per €1), and premium services across the oneworld network
As a member of the oneworld alliance, Iberia Club Elite Points and Avios can be earned and redeemed with partner airlines including American Airlines, British Airways, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Qantas, Finnair, and many more. The programme also includes an Iberia Club Kids option for younger travellers, and a Family Account feature to pool Avios within a household.
Onboard Support Iberia provides a range of special assistance services to support passengers with additional needs. Passengers who require wheelchair assistance or have reduced mobility are encouraged to request this at the time of booking, and dedicated support is available both at the airport and onboard. Iberia accepts assistance dogs in the cabin in line with applicable regulations. Passengers travelling with pets may bring small animals onboard or in the hold, subject to conditions — documentation must be verified at the airport check-in counter. Iberia also operates an Unaccompanied Minor service for children travelling alone, with dedicated staff supervision from check-in to arrival. Passengers requiring any form of special or accessible travel assistance are advised to contact Iberia at the time of booking to ensure all necessary arrangements are confirmed in advance.
